Mermaid Megafest

Lili and I attended the Mermaid Megafest in South haven, Michigan to gather with over 400 mermaids in an attempt break the Guinness Book Of World Records… and we did! Here are a few photos from the day. Thanks to Hannah Mermaid and others for their reflections! A video is coming soon from Project Soleil! You can read more about the event here and see a little video that we appear in if you look closely!

Mermaid at Ginnie Springs

I attended an event at Ginnie Springs and had a wonderful moment with all the other Merfolk.

A video and photos of the pod from that day will be coming soon.

For now here are a few reflections captured by Thomas Ora while at the springs.

I am wearing my new tail by the Mertailor and am loving the way it feels to swim in her!

Mermaid at Dunedin Beach

Here are some reflections to share with you in my new Fantasea Tail by the Mertailor.

I was blessed to pick it up from the shop while I was there and had to take her to the beach for my first swim.

I was a beautiful day in the sun and splashing in the waves with my tail.

Thanks to Thomas Ora for capturing these moments…

Adventure at Alexander

Lili and I had a wild day at the Alexander Springs in Florida.

We actually got caught in a sudden storm that knocked a tree down right into my parking space.

Luckily I was able to move it in time and continue on with our day playing in the waters.

Due to the storm the spring was nearly empty, but made for a wonderful moment among friends.

Here are just a few reflections from my dear friend Lori, from our paddle boarding adventure with Lili.

I managed to get a few pictures of the tree that nearly crushed my roaming home as the park rangers were clearing it… One of the main limbs had already been removed by the time I got my camera. You can see it would have indeed crushed my van. Grateful I was spared just the time needed to run like the wind and get my keys to move it just in time!

A video from the day is coming soon, so be sure to follow us on YouTube for more!

Mermaids & Margaritas Photos

Lili and I had so much fun being a part of the Mermaids & Margaritas Festival in Florida.

If you missed it this year, it is an annual event, so be sure to come and check it out next year!

There were so many vendors with art and items related to the ocean, conservation, and of course, mermaids!

We both put our tails on and enjoyed enchanting the many attendees.

Especially Lili, she seemed to be everyone’s new favorite mermaid!

Thanks to Bill Schaefer for the photos from this day, so much appreciated!

Fantasea Silicone Tail

I am so excited to return to the Mertailor soon to try on and make my final decision about color choice for my first silicone mermaid tail, the Fantasea Silicon Tail.

This will be my stepping stone from a fabric tail to eventually fully designing my own tail.

I was lucky enough to try on the green and blue version while in Florida the last time at the Alexander Springs Mermaid Meetup.

It feels like all is right in the world when I am in a tail, especially in water!

Do check out the new website for the Mertailor and find your “fantasea” come to life!

Manatee Appreciation Day

In honor of Manatee Appreciation Day I am reflection on my first sweet meeting with the manatee in the Crystal River, Florida

What a wonderful moment. I have always dreamed of seeing the original mermaids… and the first chance happened to be with a mama and baby.

The baby was playing under and around my paddle board, like a little game of peek-a-boo.

You can see more of the manatee in the YouTube video Mermaid and Manatee.

Here are a few of the moments from the day…

Some interesting facts about manatee…

1. Manatees munch on leafy greens for nearly half the day and can weigh up to 1,200 pounds.

2. Manatees love Florida for its warm waters. They prefer to swim in 60° or warmer temperatures.

3. Manatees usually head to the surface to breathe every three to five minutes but can last more than 20 minutes underwater.

4. The closest living relative to the manatee is the elephant.

5. Manatees will lose their teeth throughout their lives and just keep growing more.

6. Hundreds of years ago, sailors were reported to have seen mermaid like creatures while out at sea. Scientists now conclude they were probably manatees.

7. The average speed of a manatee is between three and five miles an hour but most can swim up to 20 miles an hour.

Remember go slow around the Manatee, and lets help preserve their home for generations to come!
